Section 508 Remediation

Our Section 508 Remediation services include the involvement and finally full system testing by blind users utilizing the necessary adaptive aids.

The result is that your users get real-world accessibility, not just conformance to hypothetical coding guidelines.

Phase 1 —  Review and Analysis of Existing System and Code
We will review your system to determine where compliance challenges prevent accessibility. In this phase we work closely with you, a sight impaired user and a sighted developer. The group will navigate all screens and controls using adaptive aids and determine any and all areas that are not functional and/or lack the clarity necessary for a sight impaired user.

Phase 2 —  Remediation Plan
Once we evaluate your applications we will provide you with remediation alternatives that include either our application development services or direction of your technical staff to make your applications fully accessible.

Phase 3 —  Take Corrective Action
If we are utilizing your development resources, we will advise and review your corrected application as it is ready. We will iteratively review the new functionality using the requisite adaptive aids.

If we are doing the remediation coding, we will demonstrate the corrected application as it progresses.

Phase 4 —  Test and Implement Changes
We will retest the remediated application in order to confirm functionality and clarity/usability. We will work with you if you need to test the application with your visually impaired users.

We will, if you desire, provide training and ongoing support for your users.

Why have you had trouble accomplishing the task yourself? Your visually impaired users may be quickly frustrated by the application's inaccessibility. And they are most likely unable to easily identify and cannot fully determine the technical issue when the application presents accessibility barriers. Blind users not expert in adaptive design will likely be unable to determine shortcomings within a primarily visual and graphical application environment.

Skilled developers working with blind users who understand and are skilled in the use of adaptive devices provide the best team for remediating application software.
